Cable Lumber and Home History

Cable Lumber Company was established in the 1920s by the Rogan Brothers – Martin and Andrew. They came to Cable from the east. The family originally came from Norway. The building consisted of a small office facing Spruce Street, an open storage building behind the office and the large storage barn which was still in use until 2020!

The lumberyard was then run by the Setleth family. They owned three yards, one in Cable, one in Hayward and one in Stone Lake.

Paul Bremicker and Don Pearson purchased the Cable yard and enlarged the existing office building.

Bob & Corinne Rasmussen purchased the yard after the death of Paul Bremicker and leased the premises to ABC Lumber. In the fall of 1996, ABC decided to close the Cable office and not continue the lease.

Bob & Corinne Rasmussen, along with two of their children, Bobby Rasmussen and Lisa Arthur started to remodel the yard in 1996. January 1, 1997 Bob, Corinne, Bobby & Lisa opened Cable Lumber and Home to the public. April 1, 1997, three employees were brought in to better serve their customers. Cable Lumber and Home has continued to grow ever since. In 2007 a brand new drive through storage building was constructed and in 2008, the current retail office and showroom was built. Cable Lumber and Home has now grown to employ 15 people and is always looking for new ways to support our community!
